Why we wear Lolita???

This is why we wear Lolita?

Me “It makes me happy liking the things I liked as a child. Just because we have grown up doesn’t mean that we have to stop liking the things we once loved. Being an adult just means being responsible, not giving up everything that matters.”

The lovely girls from the Sydney Lolita community-

Clarissa ”The beautiful Lolita silhouette. All things elegant classic and beautiful. + Bows. I absolutely love bows. ^^”

Pie “I just like dressing/being like a doll”

Mai “All pretty prints *w* Also it makes me feel special, and bringing colours in the boring life?”

Paige “I have always been very girly & feminine from a young age so the whole concept of lolita - the clothes, hobbies, mannerisms, etc. make me feel I am living my own real fairytale as a princess ^ v ^”

Xan “Many reasons! ALL THE REASONS!

- To feel as beautiful outside as I feel inside.

- fashion should be fun!

- To be elegant, beautiful and graceful and not a supre slut.” lexkimocake.tumblr.com

Lunasouseiseki “I like lolita because it allows me to be the embodiment of lace and cupcakes and all the other girly things in life. As cheesy as that sounds”

Caesy “It makes me feel beautiful, and it gives me heaps of confidence that “normal” clothes don’t!” “..if I’m feeling anxious, Lolita calms me down ^^;”

Aimée “I wear Lolita because I find the silhouette/s so flattering. & the use of colours/prints/patterns are a wonderful change. I feel so feminine when I get all dolled up. I feel like myself when dressed in Lolita.”

It is more than just a fashion. It is a community of people and a way to be creative, fun and free.

What does Lolita mean to you???

What does Lolita fashion mean to you?

Is there any reason why you dress this way, or is it simply just because you like it?

I want to hear your thoughts, opinions and ideas. Please email me your reasons why you dress in Loli: gothic-strawberry@hotmail.co.uk

It can be something short like “It makes me feel like a princess” or a long background story. Whatever you like…

Just make sure to include the name you want me to call you online (Internet alias) and the subject “What does Lolita mean to you”

What does Lolita Fashion mean to me-

Well to help you get started here is my story…

Lolita for many is just not a simple fashion; it is not just a dress you shove on because you need to wear clothing as a human. It is self expression and a way to be creative and free. It is a fun fashion.

Back in 6th grade (currently in 9th grade) I discovered the mystical thing called ‘Anime’ together with now one of my close friends. That introduced me to Japanese culture and many new things and concepts.

Not only that but at the time of discovering anime I had only just met this girl. She was odd and child like and loved many things a girl this age shouldn’t. All the same I thought she was nice and rather interesting.

About a year later we were still friends (and still into anime :p) and had started getting into fashion. We started going a cute gothic sorta mix with Lolita inspiration before inevitably getting into Lolita fashion.

Before I had become good friends with this girl…before I had discovered Lolita fashion..I had started forgetting the things I once liked, and putting them in the back of my mind in the preparation for growing up.

I learnt from both her and Lolita that it’s ok to like childish things.

It was ok for me to like Hello Kitty again…

It was ok to wear my hair in pigitails…

It was ok to like the things people considered childish…

What is the definition of childish anyway…

I believe growing up is about learning when to be responsible and when you can and can’t be childish.

That doesn’t mean we can’t love what we love…

That is why I wear Lolita…

The thrills truly make me happy…
